Fire response in Choctaw County is provided by a dedicated group of volunteers in 14 departments throughout the county.
In addition to fire response, the departments provide assistance for other emergency responses, including providing Landing Zone availability for medical helicopters, assistance with responses to auto accidents, as well as fire safety education for local schools.

CHOCTAW COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD
The Choctaw County Rescue Squad is made up of a group of trained volunteers who provide a list of emergency response services for Choctaw County, including responding to vehicle accidents where extrication is needed, assisting with road clearance following accidents, responding to clear roads during storms, and providing water rescue response for swimmers/boaters, among other services.
